Description
The GESTRA BK 37, BK 28, and BK 29 series are thermostatic/thermodynamic steam traps equipped with the corrosion-resistant Thermovit® regulator, designed to resist waterhammer and operate under high pressure.
Each unit includes:
Integrated strainer for protection against dirt
Built-in non-return (check valve) function
Asbestos-free body gasket (graphite/CrNi)
360° installation flexibility – suitable for installation in any position
The traps are factory-set to discharge condensate with minimal subcooling, ensuring efficient steam system performance without condensate buildup.
Operating Principle
At system start-up, the steam trap is fully open, allowing cold condensate and air to be discharged freely.
As the temperature rises, the bimetallic plates deform, gradually moving the regulating cone toward the closed position.
Just before the condensate reaches saturated steam temperature, the valve closes completely.
A thermodynamic effect occurring in the control chamber further supports the closing action.
The trap also provides automatic air venting during both start-up and continuous operation.
All models (BK 37, BK 28, and BK 29) are also suitable for thermal air venting in steam systems.
