Description of Steam Traps

At plant start-up, the steam trap is fully open.
Cold condensate and air are discharged efficiently.
As the temperature rises, the stainless steel Duo-type bimetallic plates bend and gradually move the orifice towards the closed position.

The orifice closes just below the saturation temperature.
Thermodynamic processes occurring in the orifice chamber support and stabilize the closing action.

The steam trap provides automatic air venting both during system start-up and operation.
BK 45 and BK 46 can also be used for thermal air venting in steam systems.
